Zuma dresses up as Gandalf… Actually, I’d like that. Too bad he doesn’t care.
Great stick men
Zuma dressed up as Gandalf would haunt me for life. Cool cartoon!
“I studied ubuntu at University and I am not happy”I digs that….great post buddy!
The thing about the ANC in this election is the lack of any real reference to hard deliverables. In other words, its campaign is based largely on emotion, rather than its track record in government. Thus, voters are told to vote ANC or they will go to hell, Madiba will die, because Walter Sisulu’s birthday is on election day, or because, if they do not, they will be bringing back apartheid and other such nonsense. This is the politics of fear. It makes sense, of course, because the ANC’s track record leaves a lot of be desired; it really doesn’t have that much to talk about when it comes to actual delivery. I find the ANC posters no different. They evokes no sense of hard outcomes, rather some reference to the vague abract idea of nation building, or something.
I agree with Gareth – all I see are lofty promises made by the ANC come voting time, and disappointed faces after these promises are swept under the carpet, or put on the back burner long after ballots are cast. But would it be so different with other political parties at the helm of the country? An interesting debate…
Great post, cartoon is relevant and humorous. I think I’d vote for Zuma if he campaigned as Gandalf. But if Helen Zille followed suit and dressed up as Frodo, it would be quite the hard choice.
Awesome! Great combo of humour and pertinent message. Please give us a cartoon depicting all the politicians as Tolkien characters!
So what you’re saying is that if we don’t vote for the ANC, Gandalf will die? Or was it Madiba who would die? I get so confused. Especially with all that garbage piling up outside my house. What’s a white boy to do???
The original and spontaneous dialogue left me as confused as Thembi. Perhaps I’m politically indifferent or differently political.
Oh that’s funny. That’s so freakin’ funny. It’s funny funny. Ooooohhh, that’s funny.
Markel and Mett – nice one charnas!
